DE LIMA SPEAKS IN VHONG NAVARRO ISSUE


Department of  Justice Secretary Leila De lima confirmed on the reporters on monday that one parties are requesting for an audience with her.

She refuse to reveal the party who is requesting for meeting.

She added that the DOJ wants to get the truth behind the stories and was willing to aid in order to let the justice prevail in this case.

"This is worth investigating because we have two different versions. Kailangan hustisya makuha kung sino tunay na biktima, makuha talaga ang hustisya. I'm sure the truth will prevail," De Lima said in one of the report.

Navarro was beaten up inside a condominium in Taguig City last Wednesday night by a group of men allegedly led by businessman Cedric Lee during a visit to a friend whom Navarro has identified as Denise Millet Cornejo.

HIV/AIDS CASES REACHED ALMOST 5,000


DOH reported yesterday that new cases of 358 HIV infections were recorded last month, bringing almost 5,000 number of cases since last year.

According to the report Teddy Molina of Phillipine Star, 
since the opening of the registry in 1984, the DOH has monitored a total of 16,516 cases, 1,507 of which have developed into AIDS. There were 887 deaths.

For 2012 and 2011, the registry showed 3,152 and 2,239 cases, respectively.

The health department said the new cases bring to 4,814 the total number of infections recorded since January 2013, including 179 deaths.

“The highest number of deaths occurred among the 25-29 age group with 28 percent, followed by the 30-34 age group with 25 percent and the 35-39 with 12 percent. There were 15 deaths recorded in December last year,” the agency said.

The registry showed that of 358 new cases, 318 got the infection through sexual contact 148 casesgot through homosexual contact, 40 others got the virus through contaminated needles shared among drug users.

The DOH said sexual contact between males was the predominant type of virus transmission with 82 percent.
It said 125 of the cases were aged 12 to 24.

LEGALIZING MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN PH




Cong. Rodito Albano of Isabel confirmed on Wednesday that he will file a bill concerning the legalization of medical marijuana in the Philippines.

Exclaiming that his advocacy is not to promote pot sessions but he want to open the debates for legalizing marijuana for medicinal use in our country.

Albano said that he will file the bill in March and he needed time to study the bill carefully before submitting it to the council. he also added that he is willing to open the debate to thoroughly examine the issue.

the House minority bloc said that they support the filing of the bill legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes.

on the interview of ABS-CBN correspondent RG Cruz,
House Minority Leader Ronaldo Zamora said: "We are in agreement that marijuana for medicinal, strictly medicinal purposes, it should be examined and legitimized. For recreational purposes, that's an entirely different issue."
